The Triptychs project came to me as a “Brainstorm.” I was thinking about the art form of a Triptychs knowing that I really liked diptychs. The more I thought about it, I decided to go through my archive of photographs to build triptychs. I further thought it would be interesting to make the tryptic out of photographs that I had made linking a human with a mannequin and a wall painting. All these categories of images were recurring subjects I photographed regularly.
As I looked through my archive I was fascinated by the number of images that I could make into a tryptic. As the number increased I thought I could make them into a book. I was referred to a book designer Pilar Law at A & I Books by Veronica Cotter and the book was designed and printed. Again I had Retouching and Printing help from Konstantin Golovchinsky as well as from Markus Kaeppeli. Dennis Keeley from Art Center wrote the forward.
After completion, I was speaking with some artist/physician friends and we formulated and carried out a show of our various art forms David M. Butler, M.D. displayed his paintings and Sheldon M Jordan, M.D. showed his extremely well received computer graphic prints. The show was extremely well attended and follow up was positive for all three art forms.
I also made a very interesting tryptic involving a photographer friend Ed Evans. He agreed to let me take an X-Ray of his head in my Medical Office. I then copied the X-Ray with my 4 X 5 Sinar camera. I then put the 4 X 5 image in the viewfinder of my Sinar camera and lined up a portrait with the X-Ray image. I then printed the X-Ray and Portrait negatives together to obtain both images Super imposed forming one portrait. I then presented each image independently as a Triptychs.
